Grant comment: "Output Power listed is ERP. The transmitter has maximum duty factor of 75 %. This device is authorized to operate in the following radio services: GMRS (Part 95E)." The same rows appear on the original grant, OA8-TC368 (Quanzhou Chierda Electronic Telecom, 2023-10-13), which reports SAR of 1.17 W/kg head and 1.39 W/kg body-worn. The user manual filed with the grant lists RF power as 1.8/0.5 W and 30 channels. An r/gmrs commenter put the NR30 at about 8 W on high; neither filing supports that. The NR30S is a different radio with its own FCC ID (2ASNSNR30S, granted 2024-12-04) and files 4.966 W ERP on the 462 MHz main channels. Source: https://fccid.io/2A3OONR30, checked 2026-10-22. Terms such as ERP, SAR and duty factor are explained in our glossary.
Maker's claims vs FCC filing
"comes with high power, easy to get long-distance communication" source
1.66 W ERP (462 main), 1.78 W ERP (462 interstitial), 1.64 W ERP (467 main) grant
Retevis gives no wattage. The grant puts the NR30 at roughly a third of the 4.1–5.5 W ERP most handhelds here file, about 4–5 dB lower. Its 8 repeater channels are the bigger range lever.

"Not listed" means this model isn't on the NWS list of radios approved for the NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards logo. It doesn't mean the radio can't receive weather broadcasts. The maker pages we checked don't say whether alerts use SAME county codes. See the weather radio guide.
Common questions
Is the Retevis NR30 legal to use on GMRS?
Yes, as certified equipment: FCC ID 2A3OONR30 was granted on October 31, 2023 with GMRS (Part 95 Subpart E) transmit rows. Check that the label on your unit shows this FCC ID, and note that you still need an FCC GMRS license to transmit.
How many watts is the Retevis NR30?
The FCC grant lists 1.66 W ERP on the 462 MHz main channels and 1.64 W on the 467 MHz main channels used to reach repeaters. The maker's power figure: No wattage stated; Retevis says it "comes with high power". ERP includes the stock antenna, so it usually reads a little under the maker's transmitter rating.
Does the Retevis NR30 work with GMRS repeaters?
Maker documents: Yes – 8 repeater channels (channels 23–30, per Retevis's FAQ).
Is the Retevis NR30 waterproof?
Water rating in the maker's documents: IP67 ("1 meter of water for 30 minutes"). IP67 means it survived temporary immersion in testing; IP54–IP66 cover splashes, rain or jets but not submersion.
Does the Retevis NR30 get NOAA weather alerts?
Maker documents: None listed.
