Grant comment: "Output power listed is ERP. This device is authorized to operate in GMRS (Part 95E) radio service." The antennas "must be installed to provide a minimum separation distance of at least 114 cm from all persons." The rows are copied as printed on the grant: about 4.6 W ERP on 462.55–462.725 MHz and about 48.5 W on 462.5625–462.7125 MHz. The 462 MHz interstitial limit is 5 W ERP (95.1767(b)), so the two 462 MHz figures look transposed on the grant. We haven't yet checked the test report to confirm. Maker's claims vs FCC filing

Maker says

"40W High Power GMRS Radio", "40 watts (max 48W)" source

FCC filing shows

48.64 W ERP (467 main); 462 MHz rows as printed: 4.62 W (main) and 48.53 W (interstitial) grant

Our read

The 467 MHz figure matches the maker's "max 48W". The 462 MHz figures on the grant look swapped; see the grant note above.

"Not listed" means this model isn't on the NWS list of radios approved for the NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards logo. It doesn't mean the radio can't receive weather broadcasts. The maker pages we checked don't say whether alerts use SAME county codes. See the weather radio guide.

What we haven't checked

  • Real-world range, audio quality and battery life (not measured; see how we work).
